I mentioned in our ABSC meeting, my theme for this year is:

“Time is precious, so are friendships”

The ABSC is a social club. We enjoy socializing while enjoying and preserving the shag dance. Additionally, we support local charities. I do not know of a better way to improve one’s daily life other than forming new quality friendships. The ABSC provides that opportunity. We support Memories Beach Club, which has the same mission. Our website states “We dance and play at Memories Beach Club, Atlantic Beach, NC. Including board meetings, club meetings, committee meetings, plus our social events, the ABSC conducts over forty-one initiatives at Memories Beach Club annually. Because we have common missions, Memories Beach Club provides all of the above at no charge. We thank you Memories. Moreover, we want to give back in every way we can to ensure your mission is successful. My promise to you is that the ABSC will support our common goals. Moreover we want to strive to constantly increase our support of local charities.

As a member of the ABSC you will know one thing: “At every social event, we get to feast and shag at no charge to our members”!!

“Till the next dance”

Steve Broughton

SOCIAL COMMITTEE MESSAGE
 July 10, 2010

The Re-Up Party held Saturday, July 10, 2010 had 72 people in attendance. We had 11 first timers to join. Several of the new members found us via our website. Frances Pittman “worked the crowd” and as a result of all her efforts, the 50/50 pot totaled $185. A new member Randy Merritt won $90 from the proceeds. Talk about beginner’s luck!

DJ, Jeff Walston played the tunes. He kept the crowd dancing to a great mix of new and old favorites with some classics thrown in along the way.

Pizza from Crispino’s was served at 6:15, with delicious desserts provided by ABSC members. AB Fire & Police Departments were treated to the leftovers.

A new line dance, “Sex on the Beach” was taught by Linda Butler. The music had a little bit of a reggae sound and the dance had a little “cowgirl giddy-up” thrown in for good measure. For those ladies who are interested, it will be reviewed in upcoming Thursday night line dance classes at Memories.

The Re-Up Pizza Party was the first event hosted by the 2010/2011 Social Committee.
Members of the incoming Social Committee are:

Marvin & Pat Rouse
Pete and Judy Barnes

We look forward to bringing some new ideas to the upcoming ABSC events. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to speak with anyone on the committee. New ideas are always welcomed!

We are already at work planning the August 14th “Flip, Flop and Fly” beach day social. We have ordered great weather and look forward to seeing you all again soon. Until then remember:
