President’s Message for December

December began with our annual Christmas Party at the Dunes Club. What a grand time we had! The Dunes Club had the perfect décor. It was so festive and absolutely beautiful. Everyone certainly felt the Christmas Spirit. Thanks to Charlie and his Special Events committee. Each member did their part to plan this special event for our club. They all did a wonderful job. Thanks also to Barbara and Dwayne for acting as Santa and passing out such amazing door prizes. It couldn't have been any better!

A special thanks to each of you for all the wonderful toys you brought for Toys for Tots. There are going to be lots of happy little children Christmas morning because of your generosity. You made me so proud and filled my heart with "joy” to see the Marines fill their truck with so many toys.

As 2012 comes to an end, we have changes in the forecast for 2013. Memories will be moving to a new location. We think we will still hold our January Social at the present location, so check the website to make sure.

Thanks so much for being members of a great shag club. Let’s work together to assure ABSC remains strong and even stronger in 2013.

Merry Christmas,

Joy

Social Committee Report

The Covered Dish Dinner was a delightful occasion, much like a Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner with our extended family of friends. The turkey, ham, side dishes & desserts were just delicious. We have some wonderful cooks in the Atlantic Beach Shag Club. Thanks to all of you, it was a great success & so much fun. The Social Committee as always did a fantastic job from the food to the wonderfully decorated tables with the white table cloths & the fall decorations. It really made it a festive occasion. We not only had a feast of food but a feast for our eyes as well. Thanks to those who helped set up the tables as well as those who helped cook & clean up. Job well done. It takes a team of enthusiastic workers to make it all happen. Thank you to all that bought raffle tickets. The 50/50 raffle winner was, Kathy Beliveau. Congratulations Kathy. I know that was a pleasant surprise for you. DJ Robbie Leggett kept us dancing with his wide range of shag music. Robbie's energy is contagious. He always delivers awesome music. He helped us dance off some of the calories we consumed with our wonderful dinner. It was lots of fun, Thanks Robbie. Our next event will be our Christmas Party at The Dune's Club at Atlantic Beach on December first. We will kick off the Christmas Season with a fine dinner, music & dancing. Each person attending should bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. Let's spread some Christmas cheer for the many unfortunate children that need our help. This is our way of giving back to society. What better way to keep Christ in Christmas than to look after his little children. I know that our Special Events Committee has worked hard to make sure that this will be a grand Christmas party. As always thanks to all the members of the Atlantic Beach Shag Club for your involvement & continued support. Without you all of this would not be possible. Check out the Covered Dish photos on the ABSC web site. Click on photo gallery, on the next page click on face book pictures. Then click on the small box in the middle. Hold the arrow at the bottom of each picture & click on comment. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Thank You,
Vice President, Janet Guthrie

So, each person attending is requested to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots program.
